Integrated with semi-transparent PV materials, building curtain walls could provide magnificent visual appearances and mottled interior lighting environment. Moreover, when the PV curtain walls generate electricity, they also affect the lighting, cooling and heating performance of a building. Considering the significant impact of climate factors on building energy performance and PV electricity generation, this paper selects five representative cities in five climate zones in China, investigates the semi-transparent PV curtain walls in each city by measuring their overall energy performance (including PV electricity generation, lighting, cooling and heating), and provides references for the optimization of semi-transparent PV curtain wall design in engineering application.
