Strength, Combination, Continuation: Exploration on the design strategy of the renovation to the Headquarters of the PLA's Hong Kong Garrison

Abstract

Abstract: The renovation design to the headquarters of the PLA's Hong Kong garrison faces challenges, due to the special historical significance and geographical location of the project. The design team studied the history of Hong Kong's return to China and the special duties of the PLA's Hong Kong garrison, and compared multiple plans to determine the overall positioning and strategies of the renovation. The building renovation is divided into three sections: facade, interior and night lighting. Each part follows the principle of integrating the old and the new, the continuation of historical memory, and the reconstruction and improvement, such that the project will present a new outlook and vitality in its next stage of development. Therefore, the project can truly conform to a new historical image of special significance assigned by China.

摘要： 项目特殊的历史意义和地理位置，使驻港部队总部整体更新设计面临新的探索和挑战。设计团队对香港回归的历史和驻港部队的特殊任务进行了研究梳理，并进行了多方案对比，确定了更新的总体定位和策略。更新设计任务分为3个部分：立面、室内和夜间照明。每一部分都遵循新旧融合、历史记忆延续、发展提升的整体更新原则，使项目在生命周期的中后期呈现出新的姿态和活力，真正符合国家赋予特殊使命的新历史形象。
