Abstract: Based on review and interpretation of the theoretical literature on the "revitalizing regeneration" for traditional villages, this paper proposes new ideas and methods for planning and construction practices for the preservation and regeneration of Chinese traditional villages. These ideas address "cultural inheritance, functional diversification, pilot project, and adaptive technology". Based on the example of Wuyantou Ancient Village, Ningxi Town, Huangyan District, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, specific reconstruction methods for "revitalizing regeneration" are discussed and a comparison of before and after reconstruction is presented. This case shows that planning, design, and practice play a leading role in the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy. This study is expected to provide reference for the protection and utilization of traditional villages under the same or similar topographic, geomorphological, climatic, and socio-economic conditions.
