Abstract: The South China historical trail is a route with a long history and profound cultural foundation, which is not only regarded as the pathway for economic communication and cultural exchanges, but also the important epitome of Guangdong development history and the expansion of the regional cultural context. In order to fully implement the important indication of Chairman Xi, which refers to "reserving the basic of history, inheriting the traditional Chinese culture", and the request of the Government Work Report from Guangdong Province as well, Guangdong Department of Housing and Urban-Rural has initiated and organized the compilation of the Guangdong Province South China historical trail Conservation and Utilization Master Plan Program. This program provides the important guiding significance of revealing regional cultural characteristics of The five ridges, promoting economic development, assisting the poverty reduction along the trail and improving living environment in rural area. Based on a large number of historical data and field investigation, this paper focuses on elaborating the contents about development objectives, general layout planning, functional activation planning, route planning and planning implementation.
