Abstract: In the “Oregon experiment” published by professor Christopher Alexander, he chose the University of Oregon as the experimental subject, and defined a way of design, which can guide any community's planning. Six principles were generalized from the experiment. The article makes use of the pattern principle, compares several important patterns by looking at today's planning at the University of Oregon, and evaluates the effects of implementing these patterns. The university of Oregon planning research would provide some valuable reference to the next phase of campus planning and updating construction in Chinese Universities.
