Abstract: Urban design is an inter-discipline that focuses on urban studies and designing. It starts from architectural design and urban planning. Combined with the concepts of planning, architecture, economy, landscape, civil engineering, culture and so on, it becomes a comprehensive and practical discipline to study the most important and fundamental content of urban research. As Bacon mentioned “the future of urban environmental quality depends on creative imagination and intelligence of urban designers with high technology and keen sense” in his theory, it’s time for city designers to build up their professional education.
